Costur: Sant Pere Màrtir, Romanesque font and Calvary

The photograph shows Costur’s parish church of Sant Pere Màrtir. Its ochre façade, ceramic panel dedicated to the saint, railed steps, and clock and bell tower can be recognised. It is not a Church of the Assumption, and the image does not show the interior.

A small church with three naves

The provincial tourism record describes a modestly sized church arranged in three naves, the central one higher, with restrained decoration. It also documents a Romanesque baptismal font from the former San Salvador hermitage at l’Alcalatén Castle. The photograph establishes only the exterior.

One bell carries Modernist decoration

The official record highlights the bell known as Sacramento for its unusual Modernist ornament. This detail belongs to the building’s heritage, but it cannot be identified from the street in this photograph and does not mean that the bell tower is open to visitors.

The Calvary is a separate site

Christ of the Calvary Hermitage, dated to 1910, stands on rocky ground arranged with stone Stations of the Cross, cypresses and a low white wall. Its square chapel has a curved front, bell opening and ceramic panel. It is another place, outside the parish-church frame.

This documentary edit corrects the dedication and distinguishes parish church, interior objects and Calvary. It does not verify opening, worship, font, bell, steps, stations, vegetation, condition, hours, parking or accessibility on site.
