The photograph shows Les Useres town hall in a village square; neither the path nor the pilgrimage to Sant Joan de Penyagolosa is visible. The municipal building locates a walk through town, whereas the ritual and mountain itinerary belong to a different place and scale.
The village combines civic and religious heritage
The Church of the Transfiguration was built over remains of the former castle, with tourism documentation dating its first stone to 1613. The municipality also contains the Loreto, Christ, Santa Waldesca and Saint Anthony chapels. Springs including La Ponsa, La Presola, Font Jordana and Font de Més Amunt explain links between the settlement, fields, mills and paths.
The pilgrimage is not an ordinary hike
On the last Friday in April, a guide and twelve pilgrims leave with singers, clergy, a council representative, stewards, people fulfilling vows and the pack group for the sanctuary. The ritual, designated an Asset of Cultural Interest in 2016, includes silence, stops, meals and ceremonies, returning the next day. Spectators need to respect it and consult the official arrangements for each edition.
The Camí also forms part of the GR-33
Outside the celebration, Camí dels Pelegrins is a Natural Monument and partly coincides with the GR-33 long-distance trail. It crosses ravines, farmsteads, springs, chapels and changing vegetation towards Penyagolosa. Walking a section does not reproduce the full pilgrimage or permit interference with private property, ceremonies or protected areas.
This documentary review identifies the image and distinguishes a town visit, ritual and hiking. It does not verify building opening, water, surfaces, signs, weather, booking, return transport or arrangements for the next pilgrimage on site.
