Cirat: Plaça Major, the Count’s Tower and Barranc de les Salines

Cirat groups its main urban buildings around Plaça Major, but the photograph shows the town hall and houses on the square, not the Count’s Tower. The tower occupies another point and houses tourist information. Salto de la Novia and Barranc de les Salines lie outside town.

The tower explains the former county

The medieval Count’s Tower was rehabilitated as a cultural and visitor resource. A documentary exhibition there brought together material from the historical archive of the counts of Cirat, including records dating from the fourteenth to nineteenth centuries. Its historical presence does not guarantee that the display remains installed or open on every date; ask Tourist Info.

San Bernardo and the square make the short walk

San Bernardo parish church, the Count’s Tower and streets adapted to an uneven slope form a compact town visit. The municipal leaflet identifies them as separate points. The present image should be read as civic context for the square, not visual evidence of the tower or church.

The waterfall is not a brief detour

Salto de la Novia is a waterfall on Barranc de les Salines outside town. The provincial circular route linking Cirat, the waterfall, a viewpoint, Fuente de la Jarica and the ravine measures 11.91 kilometres with 423 metres of ascent, requiring more preparation than an urban stroll.
