Castelló de la Plana: from El Fadrí to the Grau with distances clear

Castelló de la Plana cannot be reduced to a single walk from centre to beach. Plaça Major and Ribalta park make an urban route; the Fine Arts Museum occupies another part of the city; the Grau, Planetarium and beaches are by the sea. El Fadrí stands apart from Santa María

The detached bell tower reaches 58 metres and was built between 1440 and 1604. Its separation from the co-cathedral explains the Valencian name “fadrí”, or bachelor. Santa María church was demolished and rebuilt during the twentieth century, reusing ashlar and retaining historic doorways: not all the visible building belongs to the original Gothic fabric.

The climb up El Fadrí follows a spiral staircase of about 200 steps and passes internal rooms before the terrace. Check hours, closures and physical conditions with the MUCC. The image proves the view from above but does not establish universal accessibility or present opening.

Ribalta and the museum offer different readings

Ribalta is a nineteenth-century urban park associated with the former railway station and nearby Modernista buildings. The Fine Arts Museum on Avinguda Germans Bou preserves and studies artistic, archaeological and cultural memory through permanent and temporary rooms. Park and museum are separate stops and do not necessarily share hours.

The Grau is another district

The Planetarium opened in 1991 between the seafront and El Pinar, combining exhibitions with a projection room beneath its dome. From here the coast continues to Pinar, Gurugú and Serradal beaches. Allow travel time and check screenings, museums and access separately when planning a day.
