Almassora’s heritage is distributed along the River Millars from the inland edge of the municipality to the coast. Santa Quitèria combines a chapel and a medieval bridge; Torrelló del Boverot reveals much earlier settlement; Les Goles provides an estuary and wildlife landscape. They do not form one continuous walk, so select the area that best matches your interest.

Santa Quitèria and the bridge

The photograph shows only Santa Quitèria chapel and its wooded surroundings. The medieval bridge, dated to 1275 in the municipality’s visitor material, stands beside the Millars but is not visible here. Treating them as separate structures avoids making the bridge appear to be part of the chapel.

The council runs interpreted visits on selected dates, but activities change between campaigns. The exterior can be seen independently; check the current programme for interiors or guided routes.

Torrelló del Boverot

At the western edge of the municipality, excavations record Bronze Age remains from around 1000 BC and, above them, an Iberian street with houses dating to the second century BC. Finds from the site relate to the Municipal Museum. Site and museum are separate resources whose access and opening should be checked before travelling.

Les Goles is not an urban beach

The protected Millars estuary belongs to the Natura 2000 network and is designated a special protection area for birds. Its Blue Trail and observation points help interpret the landscape, but visitors must respect signs, wildlife, flood conditions and weather. Benafeli beach lies on the seafront without turning the protected area into a recreational extension of the sand.
