Owners of officially protected housing in València can halve their municipal property-tax bill for five tax years. The period begins after the year of final protected status, but relief is not applied automatically.
Owners must apply before the five-year window ends. Approval takes effect in the tax year after the request and only for the remaining time, so earlier years are not recovered.
Relief is limited to the home
It covers protected and legally equivalent homes but excludes garages and storage rooms. It cannot be combined with the council’s large-family property-tax discount.
The council says it is compatible with specified relief for development, construction and promotion businesses and agricultural cooperatives where their rules are met.
Final protected status determines the timetable
Applicants provide the cadastral reference and final classification certificate or a deed recording that status. Representatives must prove authority, and refunds require bank details.
Filing is available online, at the tax office or through a council registry. The decision period is up to six months and administrative silence means refusal. Update if the ordinance, duration or compatibility rules change.
