València cuts road tax by 75% for electric, hybrid and gas vehicles

Owners must apply, remain current on council taxes and claim for only one vehicle; low-emission petrol cars receive 30% relief for three years.

Electric, hybrid and gas-powered cars can receive a 75% reduction in València road tax. Coverage includes electricity paired with petrol, diesel or gas, as well as LPG, LNG and compressed-natural-gas vehicles.

Petrol-only cars follow a separate rule: a 30% reduction for three years after first registration when emissions are below 95 grams of CO₂ per kilometre. An environmental badge alone does not establish eligibility.

Relief must be requested and covers one vehicle

Owners must apply and remain current on all council taxes. A later debt can remove the benefit, and each taxpayer may claim it for only one vehicle.

For an ordinary tax year, the request must arrive by 31 December of the previous year. A newly registered vehicle is the exception: applying within one month of DGT registration can bring relief into the same year and produce a partial refund.

Registration, technical card and bank account

The council asks for identification and representation where relevant, the registration document and technical inspection card. A bank account in the owner’s name is needed for a refund.

Outside the new-registration exception, approval is not retroactive. Update if the percentages, emissions threshold or eligible technologies change.
