The photograph shows Almenara’s Casablanca beach: a shingle shore, three coloured huts, a side promenade and a groyne extending into the Mediterranean. Neither the castle, its towers nor Els Estanys appears. The sea state records only the moment when the image was taken.

Casablanca is Almenara’s seafront

The beach extends for about 3.5 kilometres and combines shingle with coarse sand. It lies apart from the main town and forms an open coastal landscape. Services, walkways, lifeguards and swimming depend on season and daily conditions, so a general guide cannot replace current local information.

Els Estanys are freshwater lagoons

Halfway between town and beach, three lagoons receive water from aquifers connected with Sierra de Espadán. They belong to Almenara marsh, a flora micro-reserve and a site of community interest. Springs, aquatic plants and birds form an ecosystem distinct from the saline coast.

The castle occupies another axis on the hill

Wall remains and the two towers known as Abuelo and Abuela command the land corridor from above. Tradition connects the name “Almenara” with fire signals. Climbing the hill, circling the lagoons and reaching Casablanca are three journeys rather than one continuous walk.

This documentary review corrects the photograph and separates beach, marsh and fortification. It does not verify waves, flag, lifeguards, walkways, freshwater, wildlife, mosquitoes, paths, gradient, ruins, railings or accessibility on site.
