Alcudia de Veo: a Veo street, three villages and Benitandús Organs

The photograph was taken in Veo, one of the settlements within Alcudia de Veo municipality. It shows a sloping paved street, stone and rendered houses, planters and wooded mountains behind. This is not a combined view of Alcudia, Veo and Benitandús, and the Organs are not visible.

Veo has its own identity within the municipality

Alcudia de Veo comprises three inhabited settlements—Alcudia de Veo, Veo and Benitandús—and the abandoned settlement of Jinquer. Veo has Virgen de la Asunción Church; Alcudia retains San Miguel parish church and its castle, while Benitandús has its own church. They are best understood as separate stops rather than one continuous village.

The river links settlements and reservoir

The Sonella, also called River Veo, crosses the municipality and supplies Benitandús reservoir, built in the twentieth century for irrigation. Ravines and Sierra de Espadán woodland explain the relief visible behind the houses. Proximity to water and mountains does not establish that every path or riverbank is passable.

The Organs are a geological formation

Benitandús Organs reach 724 metres according to Castellón Tourism. Their parallel, erosion-shaped ridges resemble organ pipes. They are reached on mountain routes outside the photographed settlement; they should not be confused with the reservoir or described as an urban viewpoint.
