Benassal is clearer when three areas are kept distinct. La Mola belongs to the historic centre and preserves civil and defensive architecture; Font d’en Segures is a district associated with mineral water; El Rivet is a natural area of oaks and holm oaks. The photograph shows the woodland, not the spring.

La Mola belongs to the historic centre

Around La Mola are remains of walls and gates, the medieval oven, Bulc tower and a washhouse. The Mola building houses the Alt Maestrat Archaeological Museum and is associated with the Carles Salvador Foundation. It is not a hiking summit and should not be confused with other landforms called “mola” in the region.

Font d’en Segures has its own identity

The spring district developed as a mineral-water destination and retains buildings associated with twentieth-century health tourism. It lies outside the compact La Mola circuit, although local paths can link them. The spring, tourist office and businesses have different conditions; check opening and access to the water before travelling.

El Rivet is the woodland in the photograph

El Rivet preserves humid oak woodland that is uncommon in Valencian territory, together with holm oaks and protected flora. Its value lies in trees and biodiversity rather than guaranteed recreational facilities. Keep to paths, avoid disturbing wildlife and check fire risk or restrictions.

Sant Cristòfol chapel and other routes in the municipality require more time and ascent. This documentary edit does not certify current opening of the museum, tourist office, spring or paths.
