Bejís combines water heritage with the landscape at the head of a river. Los Arcos aqueduct stands a few hundred metres from the centre; the ruined castle overlooks the houses; Los Cloticos spring and the upper Palancia lie farther away. They should not be described as one short visit.
The five surviving arches
The regional tourism source attributes Roman origins to the aqueduct and states that it supplied the settlement for centuries. Five of seven documented semicircular arches survive; the visible sections, including the initial wall, extend for about 82 metres within a longer original alignment. The photograph shows this water structure, not the castle.
The castle is an elevated ruin
The fortress, also known as the Castle of the Order of Calatrava, occupies a hill between the Palancia and Canales rivers. Official visitor information records surviving silos and cisterns within a ruined complex. Its position can be understood from the village; any ascent must follow signs and current access conditions.
Los Cloticos and the Palancia headwaters
Los Cloticos spring lies in a separate rural area, approximately three kilometres from the municipality according to provincial visitor information. That source lists recreational facilities, but availability, drinking-water status, fire areas and access can change because of drought, wildfire or forest precautions.
Tracks continue from this area towards El Molinar and the Palancia headwaters. These are mountain routes rather than an urban stroll. Check the official trail network, river crossings, weather and any post-fire restrictions before setting out.
