A pension award can take effect from a date earlier than the decision itself. If a pharmacy charged 40% of prescription costs during that interval because the patient was still recorded as an active user, the Generalitat provides a specific refund procedure. It is not a general route for every disagreement about pharmacy contributions: it addresses this delay in recording pensioner status.
Applicants must have healthcare entitlement in the Valencian Community and their pensioner status must now be accredited. The effective date in the award decision determines the period in which overpayments can be examined. The procedure is open, and the official page sets a five-year limit from the event giving rise to the claim.
The original invoice links payment to the prescription
The health authority requires a signed application, evidence showing when pensioner status was recognised and original invoices for the 40% pharmacy contribution paid. Its document list also includes medical reports showing the need for the care and any reports supporting the request.
A recollection of the expense, or a card transaction that does not identify the dispensing, is therefore insufficient on its own. Anyone who notices the delay should ask the pharmacy for invoices linking the amount to the prescription, retain them and arrange the evidence by date. This allows the authority to separate the period before the pension took effect from later purchases or items outside the funded benefit.
This route does not replace the discrepancy form where the SIP contribution rate remains wrong, nor the Valencian copayment support schemes for particular groups. If current prescriptions are still being charged incorrectly, the record needs correcting as well as the earlier period being claimed. Non-funded medicines and purchases without the relevant public prescription are not covered merely because pension status has been granted.
The application can be filed online using an accepted identification and signature method, or in person through the listed registries. The official page identifies the territorial health directorates in Alicante, Castellón and Valencia and names medical inspection offices and user support services among the preferred points. A person acting for someone else must demonstrate their authority to do so.
Where reimbursement is approved, payment is made into the nominated bank account. Applicants should therefore check that the Generalitat holds valid account details or register them through the banking procedure linked from the portal. The page gives no estimated number of days for payment; it does state that administrative silence has the effect of refusal.
The next reliable point for reviewing the case is a request for missing material, an express decision or the absence of a response within the applicable legal period. Until then, the registration receipt should be retained and the only original invoice should not be surrendered without first keeping a legible copy.
