Higueras is a small Alto Palancia municipality at 672 metres above sea level, surrounded by abrupt relief and Mediterranean vegetation. The photograph shows the town hall façade and stone houses beside Calle Horno, not the Purísima church or a general view of the village.

The town walk is organised around water

Maricalva fountain stands in the centre, while the municipal washhouse records the everyday use of water. The regional listing assigns the washhouse a medieval origin; that historical reference does not establish that every visible part dates from the thirteenth century or that the site is permanently open.

The church and former defence are separate features

The parish church is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception. The provincial tourism inventory also mentions a defensive tower and houses associated with Arabic building traditions. Read them as separate features and do not treat every stone building as medieval or Islamic without identification.

Paths leave the village for demanding terrain

The surroundings connect with Serra d’Espadà landscapes and longer itineraries such as the Grail Route. Local summits exceed one thousand metres and forest tracks are not equivalent to a walk around the square. Their interest lies in transitions between small plots, almond and olive trees, pine woods and cork oak.

Choose a published route and check ascent, surface, mobile coverage, water, fire risk and weather before setting out. This documentary review does not verify the fountain, washhouse, church interior or current condition of each path on site.
