A family needs a care place, yet the paperwork still refers to assessed dependency, preferences and an individual care plan. When seeking day care or residential care through the Valencian dependency system, first establish which step remains: requesting the service, having it included in the care plan, or asking about the wait for a public place. The Generalitat has a specific procedure for that last enquiry for older people’s care facilities.
Start with the decision you already have
The dependency assessment establishes the level of need; the individual care plan, known as the PIA, specifies services or benefits. The regional catalogue includes day care and residential care. An assessed dependency level does not mean a particular place has been allocated.
If no application has been made, use the dependency assessment and support application. Applications are open throughout the year, preferably through the register of the municipality where the person is registered as living. Municipal social services prepare the social report and can advise on documents and service preferences.
If a PIA has already been issued and a different service is now needed, the same official page provides the form for new preferences, an extension or a review of the PIA. Explain the support required and provide the documents relevant to the case: changing the service and reviewing the assessed dependency level are separate steps.
The waiting-list enquiry has a separate form
To ask about a position on the waiting list for a public residential or day-care place for an older person, use Generalitat procedure 106921. It is open all year and has two requirements: a recognised dependency level allowing access to the service, and a request for residential or day-care provision as a PIA preference.
- Download the information request form from the official page.
- If acting for someone else, check how to establish your authority to represent them; an authorisation form is also available.
- Address the request to the territorial social services directorate for the relevant province. Online submission is available, alongside in-person registration routes for people who are not required to deal with the administration electronically.
- Keep the registration receipt to identify the enquiry and when it was submitted.
The reply is for information only. It has no legal effect and does not allocate a place. A waiting-list position should not be translated into an admission date: the procedure does not provide a conversion from a position number to a remaining waiting time.
If the person is already paying for private care
Before seeking continued care through a service-linked benefit, check the dependency procedure’s document requirements. For an accredited private service already being used, the official page calls for, as applicable, a social report from the service, a copy of the contract and the three most recent invoices. These documents alone do not guarantee an award or turn a private place into a public one.
Keeping the dependency decision, any PIA, the service preference requested and registration receipts together helps social services distinguish an access application, a change of service and a waiting-list enquiry. That gives the next appointment a clear purpose tied to the person’s actual needs.
