Large families in Castelló can cut their waste charge by 60%

Relief covers only the main home for the year claimed and applications run from 1 January to 1 March.

Household recycling, five wooden family figures and blank bill

The waste bill on a main home can be cut by 60% in Castelló when its liable resident holds large-family status. Relief applies only to the year claimed.

The household must also reach at least 60% when the cadastral-value and family-income scores used for large-family property-tax relief are combined. Status alone does not guarantee approval.

Applications run from 1 January to 1 March

The deadline moves to the next working day if 1 March is a holiday. A late claim misses relief for that year.

Evidence includes the large-family certificate valid on 1 January and tax-return certification for each member earning income. Dependency cases need the relevant decision or certificate.

A property-tax application may prevent duplicate filing

The council says no separate waste application is needed where the information was already submitted for large-family property-tax relief.

This differs from recycling-centre and low-income reductions. Update if the percentage, deadline or scoring rules change.
