Compromís, Podem, Esquerra Unida del País Valencià and Esquerra Republicana del País Valencià agreed on Friday to contest Spain’s 29 November general election together. Their ballot name will be Compromís-Front Valencià, preventing this political space from splitting across the region’s three constituencies.
The deal came on the final day for registering coalitions and followed a reversal by EUPV. Its governing council had rejected the earlier offer by more than 75%, then approved the revised agreement by 66% after changes focused partly on the name. Podemos members also endorsed agreements in Valencia, Catalonia and the Canary Islands with 87.7% support in a nationwide consultation.
The alliance is settled, but the candidate lists are not
The outline reported so far gives Compromís the lead positions in Valencia and Castellón and Podem first place in Alicante. Complete lists still require approval and formal submission under the election timetable. Talks with the PSPV over possible joint Senate candidacies are also unresolved.
The next check is the coalition’s official registration, followed by publication of candidates by the electoral authorities. Until then, the agreement establishes the name and common framework but does not make every candidate or list position final.
