Alicante expects to complete an agreement with the Generalitat and Adif next week that will unlock detailed planning for the Central Park and railway integration beside the station. It provides the framework for the next planning stage, but signing it will not mean construction starts immediately.
The council has begun procuring a technical study to bring the park, access routes, intermodal station and railway solution into one coherent area. The study must turn institutional understandings into a feasible proposal while coordinating land and powers held by different public bodies.
An administrative step with long-term urban consequences
The scheme aims to reconnect neighbourhoods divided by the rail corridor and release land for public space. Before that reaches the street, authorities must define the layout, cost sharing, construction projects and timetable. What changes now is the ability to plan; there is still no confirmed date for opening the park.
The next verifiable milestone is the agreement expected next week. The scope of the technical study, planning procedure and tenders should follow. Any construction schedule will depend on those files and on funding commitments from Alicante Council, the Generalitat and Adif.
