Villalonga: Vicente Estevan square, former railway and Racó del Duc

The image shows the ceramic plaque in Plaza Vicente Estevan, not the Greenway; the former railway platform begins beyond the town-centre walk.

The photograph shows a ceramic plaque on a façade in Villalonga’s Plaza Vicente Estevan. Its inscription commemorates restoration of the Mare de Déu de la Font chapel and is dated 2014. Neither the Serpis Greenway, river nor Racó del Duc appears.

The town and natural route are separate visits

A town walk reveals façades, squares and the San Antonio Abad and Santa Bárbara chapel. Reaching La Reprimala and the former railway formation requires leaving the centre. The plaque locates one piece of local memory but says nothing about trail conditions.

The route follows the Alcoi-Gandia railway

The section between Villalonga and l’Orxa uses the alignment travelled by the “trenet dels anglesos” until 1969. It passes through eight tunnels and follows the Serpis gorge between the Safor and Cuta ranges. Lighting for the tunnels is a requirement distinct from equipment for a town walk.

Racó del Duc preserves water-powered industry

Weirs, mill remains, former power stations and the ruined Immaculada chapel explain past use of the river. The full out-and-back route is about 25 kilometres, although shorter sections are possible. Circ de la Safor belongs to more demanding mountain itineraries and is not a brief detour.

This documentary review identifies the plaque and separates town, railway and mountain. It does not verify restoration, signs, tunnels, rockfall, flow, walkways, cycle traffic, signal, fire restrictions, water or accessibility on site.
