Sueca: rice fields, farming museum and Muntanyeta dels Sants

The photograph shows a green rice field on the Sueca plain, with crop lines, agricultural buildings and an almost level horizon. It is neither the interior nor the façade of Museu de l’Arròs. The colour records only one stage: this landscape changes through flooding, sowing, ripening and harvest.

The museum explains work in the marshland

Museu de l’Arròs stands beside the N-332 within the Albufera area. Its displays bring together tools, seed, varieties, clothing and explanations of cultivation. Visits require prior arrangements, so it should not be presented as a continuously open town-centre gallery.

The Muntanyeta interrupts the flat plain

Muntanyeta dels Sants rises only 27 metres but serves as a viewpoint over the rice plain. The Sants de la Pedra chapel stands on top, while the Baldoví and Sants freshwater springs lie below. Viewpoint, chapel and springs are neighbouring features, not a single museum site.

The rice fields belong to l’Albufera

Plots and irrigation channels are a working landscape as well as feeding and passage habitat for birds. Farm tracks should not be treated as unrestricted promenades: work, water and traffic vary across the growing season. Sueca’s beaches and town centre require separate journeys from this inland landscape.
