The photograph shows pine woodland with Mediterranean fan palms and undergrowth in Serra d’Irta. Polpís Castle, the sea and Santa Magdalena de Pulpis village do not appear. The frame records vegetation rather than a specific walking route.

The municipality forms part of Serra d’Irta Natural Park

The official park profile places the protected area across Alcalà de Xivert-Alcossebre, Santa Magdalena de Pulpis and Peñíscola. It combines mountains and coast with Mediterranean vegetation. Check authorised routes, temporary restrictions, fire risk and weather before walking.

Polpís Castle occupies a mountain position

The fortress stands at 431 metres on an earlier Islamic stronghold. It retains wall remains from the 10th and 11th centuries and 13th-century alterations associated with Calatrava and the Knights Templar. The heritage record identifies the gate, keep, cistern, wall sections and traces of the early settlement.

Urban heritage requires a separate stop

The regional tourism guide adds the parish church, remains of a Reconquest-era church, Modernista buildings and San Millán tower. It also mentions petroglyphs near Barranc del Mas and dry-stone architecture; none of these elements can be identified in the woodland photograph.

This documentary edit distinguishes woodland, natural park, castle and urban heritage. It does not verify paths, vegetation, fires, fortress, cistern, petroglyphs, buildings, condition, hours, parking or accessibility on site.
