The photograph shows Chulilla Castle’s long wall descending over rock above the houses and valley; it does not show the gorge or hanging bridges. The framing reveals the relationship between fortress, crag and stepped hillside town, but not the condition of interior access.
The castle follows the shape of the crag
The fortress is of Muslim origin and may stand over an earlier defence. Its walls follow the irregular summit, and the enclosure remained in use during several conflicts until the nineteenth century. The climb helps explain the site, although opening and surface conditions should be checked before entering.
The town occupies the slope below the fortress
Narrow streets and white façades descend from the castle area. The eighteenth-century Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles parish church, La Peñeta viewpoint and San José chapel are separate landmarks on the town walk; they are not inside the fortress and do not necessarily share opening arrangements.
The bridges belong to a route through the gorge
The Los Pantaneros or Los Calderones route follows the Turia gorge and crosses two hanging bridges. The path recalls the journey made by workers travelling to the Loriguilla reservoir construction site in the 1950s. It is a natural route separate from the castle and requires current access, regulation, weather and trail condition to be checked.
This documentary review identifies the wall and separates castle, town and river route. It does not verify opening, booking, parking, capacity, gradients, steps, railings, rockfall, flow, bathing, heat, accessibility or bridge and trail condition on site.
