A vehicle registered to a disabled person can be fully exempt from Alicante road tax when it is used exclusively for that person. This covers cars driven by the beneficiary and vehicles used to transport them.
A recognised disability rating of at least 33% is required. Vehicles legally defined for people with reduced mobility also qualify. Relief continues while the underlying circumstances remain.
The exemption does not transfer automatically
One beneficiary cannot hold the exemption for more than one vehicle at the same time. A change of car requires the former position to be regularised and a request for the new registration.
The council does not apply relief merely because it knows the disability rating. Applicants must file online with digital identification or at the General Registry.
The certificate and registration document are central
The file requires the official disability decision or certificate showing the rating and a copy of the vehicle registration document. Ownership and exclusive use must continue.
Update if Alicante changes the form, timing or required evidence.
