The photograph shows Herbers as a whole at the foot of a rocky slope. The church tower and, higher up, the large Baron’s House can be distinguished among the roofs; this is not an isolated picture of the palace. Agricultural buildings and gardens in the foreground also belong to the inhabited landscape.

The Baron’s House occupies the upper village

The Baron’s House of Herbers was built in the sixteenth century with Gothic and defensive features. A coat of arms survives together with spaces linked to different historic uses, including cellars, dungeons and a former snow store. These references describe the building but do not establish which rooms can be visited or their current condition.

Church and market hall explain the medieval centre

San Bartolomé Apóstol Church and the Gothic market hall date from the fourteenth century. The former market hall now has a hospitality use and should not be presented as a municipal museum. Walking between these buildings reveals the village’s gradient and scale seen in the panorama.

Water shapes excursions beyond the houses

El Botador is a waterfall close to the village on the route towards Virgen del Sargar Chapel. Els Ullals de Pitarch, La Tossa, pools, caves and springs belong to longer routes across the district. Flow, shade and difficulty vary, so these places should not be combined into one route without planning.

This documentary review identifies the panorama and distinguishes village, manor house and countryside. It does not verify opening, hospitality use, worship, flow, bathing, rockfall, surfaces, gradients, signs, ownership or accessibility on site.
