Alicante’s TAM and TRAM introduce new fares and unlimited 30-day passes

A single TAM ticket rises to €1.50 and ten trips cost €5.40 under the current discount. The new 30-day passes start at €29.75 and require a personalised card.

Using the bus across the Alicante area, or combining it with zone A of the TRAM network, costs slightly more from Thursday. A single TAM ticket rises from €1.45 to €1.50, while the standard ten-trip fare moves to €9. The temporary discount in force until year-end reduces that reload to €5.40. The change also brings two new passes: a €35 general pass and a €29.75 youth version, both offering unlimited travel for 30 days.

Order 8/2026 in the Valencian Official Gazette replaces the 2023 rules and reorganises a system combining city buses, metropolitan routes and part of the railway network. Not every headline figure is the amount passengers pay today. The order sets reference fares while keeping the temporary reductions already applicable to certain tickets until 31 December. The two new monthly passes, however, go on sale at their full published prices.

When the new 30-day pass becomes worthwhile

The general Abono Móbilis Mensual costs €35. Its youth counterpart includes a permanent 15% reduction and costs €29.75 for people aged 16 to 30, inclusive, who hold a Carnet Jove or European equivalent. Neither has a journey cap. The 30 calendar days begin with the first validation after loading the pass, rather than on the purchase date.

Whether it beats a multi-trip ticket depends on use. Against the general ten-trip ticket at its currently discounted €5.40 price, the €35 monthly pass becomes cheaper at roughly 65 validations within 30 days. For a young passenger, the fair comparison is the existing 30-trip Móbilis Jove at €10.60: the new €29.75 monthly pass becomes cheaper at about 85 validations. That is a mathematical guide, not a universal threshold: for passengers changing between integrated operators, one journey may contain more than one leg within the permitted transfer time.

Both passes require a personalised Móbilis card. The card costs €4.40 if the passenger does not already have one. The TAM operator says applications can be made through its office or by email; the youth version also requires proof of age and a valid youth card.

What rises and what keeps a discount

The reference price of a ten-trip Móbilis Multiviaje rises from €8.70 to €9. With the 40% general reduction, its effective price remains €5.40 until 31 December. The 30-trip school ticket becomes €17, or €8.50 after the discount. The existing 30-trip Móbilis Jove is unchanged for now: €21.20 before the reduction and €10.60 after the 50% youth discount.

FGV’s own fares outside the integrated area also change. On the TRAM d’Alacant, a single ticket for zones B or C, or transition areas T1 and T2, costs €2; two zones cost €2.90 and the full ABC combination €4. The corresponding Bono 10 prices are €9, €12.50 and €21 before any applicable reductions. Gent Major and Mobilitat pass prices remain unchanged.

TAM continues to cover Alicante city buses, metropolitan connections and TRAM zone A: all stops on lines 2, 3, 4 and 5, plus line 1 between Luceros and Venta Lanuza. The order adds Agost, Aigües and Busot to the system’s definition, but it does not make full integration immediate. Their new tickets and fares will apply when the contract replacing the current Alacant Metropolità service starts, according to the timetable set by that contract.

Old tickets do not expire today

Tickets bought at the previous fare can continue to be used until 31 October. From 1 October to 31 December, unused value can also be exchanged for the equivalent new ticket by paying the difference. This general timetable covers products including the Multiviaje and school tickets.

The 30-trip Móbilis Jove has a longer transition. It remains on sale until 31 December, can be used until 31 January 2027 and unused tickets can be exchanged for the new monthly youth pass between January and March by paying the difference. The Gazette leaves the detailed exchange arrangements to the regional transport directorate.

The present reductions formally end on 31 December 2026. Their continuation, and any future subsidy for the new monthly products, will require another legal measure. Until one is published, the confirmed prices for those passes are €35 and €29.75, plus the card where needed.
