Owners’ associations and owners of apartment blocks or single-family homes in Castelló have until Monday 31 August, inclusive, to apply for the city’s building renovation grants. The scheme has a budget of €501,428.67 and entered its final weekend with 41 applications registered, according to a municipal update published last Monday.
The deadline is not the only hurdle. The official call for applications requires the Valencian housing building assessment report, known as the IEEV.CV, to be registered by the time the application is filed. A works estimate or a vote by an owners’ association cannot replace a missing report.
Eligible applicants include owners’ associations formed under Spain’s horizontal property law, sole owners of residential apartment buildings and owners of single-family homes. The property must be in the municipality and funding is competitive: filing on time does not guarantee an award.
Urgent findings set the scope of the works
The grants cover conservation work classed in the IEEV.CV as urgent or medium-term. This includes foundations and structures; roofs, terraces, façades and party walls; and shared electricity, plumbing, gas, drainage, waste and telecommunications systems in apartment buildings. Asbestos removal can also qualify when it is carried out by an authorised contractor.
If the report identifies several urgent defects, the proposal must include all of them, even when the eventual grant does not cover the full cost. Medium-term work can only receive funding after the urgent items have been addressed. Routine maintenance is excluded.
Standard limits can reach €15,000 per apartment building and €3,000 per home, or €4,000 for a single-family property. Where the IEEV.CV records an imminent safety risk, the ceiling rises to €30,000 per building and €5,000 per home, according to the municipal information reported by Castellón Plaza. These are maximum figures, not automatic awards; the eligible cost, score and available budget all matter.
What must be ready before Monday
Applications are filed through Castelló City Council’s electronic office. For owners’ associations, the weekend only provides useful time if the works and legal representative have already been approved and the technical documents are ready. The official notice lists 964 355 269, 964 355 383 and vivenda@castello.es for enquiries, but ordinary office support does not turn the weekend into a working day or extend Monday’s deadline.
The National Grants Database record, reference 912827, continues to list 31 August as the closing date. Applicants should retain their registration receipt: a saved draft, an email to the housing office or an unresolved enquiry is not a submitted application.
The council will assess eligible applications against each other and the available budget. The next material update will be the municipal decision or a request for missing information. Any extension or budget change should appear in the official record; unless that happens, Monday remains the deadline.
