Losing a diploma does not erase the qualification: replacements start at the school

Secondary, vocational and special-regime qualifications follow the same route: the form and any fee go to the school that handled the original.

Losing a sixth-form or vocational diploma does not mean proving the qualification again. A replacement is issued from the entry already held in the education registers. The starting point is not a general Generalitat office: applicants contact the Valencian school where they completed the course or passed the examination that entitled them to the document.

The procedure covers non-university qualifications and certificates for compulsory secondary education, basic vocational training, sixth-form studies, intermediate and advanced vocational courses, and special-regime arts, sport, music, dance and language education. University degrees and documents issued by another administration follow different routes.

The form and any fee go to the school

The applicant signs the issue or replacement form, pays the applicable fee and submits both to the school. Rates differ by qualification and exemptions exist, so the current Education tariff should be used. The fact that an original compulsory-secondary diploma is free does not automatically make every replacement free.

For damage, an error or changed personal details, the school may require the original or enough of it to identify the document. Official diplomas cannot simply be amended by hand: changes to a name, surname or nationality require reissue. No reissue fee is due where an error, loss or damage is attributable to the administration.

The school processes it and the territorial office records it

The school sends its proposal to the Territorial Education Directorate. The office checks the data, records the replacement in the Valencian register and informs the national register. The completed document returns to the school, which contacts the applicant for collection.

Applications remain open all year. The Valencian procedure sets a maximum of six months from receipt by the school office and treats administrative silence as a refusal. While waiting, applicants who urgently need proof for enrolment, recruitment or an examination can ask the school whether it can issue an interim certificate.
