Elche’s Golden Card provides free urban bus travel and access to municipal sports facilities, including pools and exercise rooms, as well as municipal museums and the Filmoteca. Applicants must be registered residents, but reaching 65 is not the only route.
Retirement and non-contributory pension recipients, people receiving permanent total disability pensions and specified other groups may qualify. Widows, widowers and total-disability pensioners must be unemployed without unemployment benefit. A pensioner’s spouse can qualify from age 60 under the council’s conditions.
The application costs €4.20 and goes through an OMAC office
The file requires the municipal form, a recent photograph, an ID copy and proof of the €4.20 fee. A pensioner’s spouse also provides the family book. Pension or non-employment evidence varies with the eligibility route.
Documents may be registered at any municipal citizen-service office. The council gives an approximate two-month decision time, so submitting papers does not immediately activate the benefits.
Golden Card and Bus Lliure serve different groups
The Golden Card depends on age or pension status and adds cultural and sports facilities. Bus Lliure mainly targets children and young people and focuses on transport. Applicants need the product matching their status.
