Free urban bus travel in Elche during 2026 does not mean travelling without a ticket. Children under 15 need a valid municipal Bus Lliure card for the zero fare. For passengers aged 15 to 25, the same card unlocks the 50% subsidy and reduces the product to €10 per quarter.
The measure runs to 31 December 2026. A valid existing card receives the discount automatically; an expired one must be renewed, while first-time users need to apply before using the reduced fare.
Applications are online or through an OMAC office
New cards, renewals and replacements can be requested through the electronic office or a municipal citizen-service office. Once approved, the card is collected from the bus company kiosk on Calle Doctor Caro.
Applicants need a passport-style photograph against a white background and identification for the holder or legal representative. From age 16 to 25, current enrolment evidence is also required for regulated study or courses meeting the council’s minimum teaching hours.
Non-residence does not remove the child subsidy
Children not registered as Elche residents may obtain a provisional card for the 2026 free-fare scheme. A photograph, parent or guardian ID and the child’s ID or family book are required. The card expires with the subsidy.
The discounted ten-trip standard pass is €5.05, the large-family pass €3.85 and the monthly pass €16.30. Update if the council changes or extends the discounts after 31 December.
