Registering in Castelló: tenants need their latest rent receipt as well as the lease

Walk-in service runs from 9:00 to 11:00 with limited capacity; an individual registration certificate is also available instantly online.

A tenant registering an address in Castelló needs the full lease in their name and proof of the latest rent payment. The receipt must identify landlord and tenant and state both the amount and payment period. A lease alone may therefore leave the application incomplete.

Owners need valid identification and proof of ownership, although the council may verify ownership through its property-tax records. Someone who is neither the owner nor named on the lease needs signed authorisation, the holder’s ID copy and evidence relating to the property. Authorisation from an existing registered resident may also be needed.

Walk-in service exists but is not guaranteed

Integrated service offices handle appointments and walk-ins from 9:00 to 11:00 on weekdays, but unreserved places are limited. Appointments are available online, through 010, on 964 226 010 from outside the city or a mobile, and by WhatsApp on 964 355 101.

People over 65 do not need an appointment for their own procedures or when acting for another person over 65.

An individual certificate can be issued immediately

The electronic office provides automatic individual certificates and registration slips. Adults can also obtain one without an appointment from self-service tablets at the central district office, Plaza Mayor 1. Historical certificates and cases involving representation use a non-automatic procedure.

Registration also covers people without a fixed address or living in inadequate housing. Social Services must then report habitual residence and the address to be recorded. Rules for children vary according to custody and available parental authorisations.
