Fishing with a rod from a beach or breakwater in the Valencia region requires a recreational sea fishing licence. Applications remain open throughout the year and a one-year shore licence costs €12.26 in 2026. It does not cover boat or underwater fishing.
The regional procedure covers shore, boat, underwater and cast-net licences, but each has its own fee, duration and paperwork.
Longer shore licences cost less per year
A shore licence costs €15.01 for two years, €17.47 for three, €19.75 for four and €21.88 for five. Recreational boat licences start at €41.85 for two years, while an underwater licence costs €16.97 and lasts two years. Downloading a valid licence online is free.
The standard application requires the form and identification; in-person applicants also provide the paid 046 fee form. Minors need authorisation. Underwater applicants need an official medical certificate from a diving and hyperbaric medicine specialist.
Local fishing restrictions still apply
Applications can be filed online with an electronic signature or in person, and the authority has one month to issue the licence. A boat licence is linked to the vessel’s activity and requested by its owner.
A licence does not override closed seasons, minimum sizes, catch limits or restrictions in ports and protected areas. This article should be updated when annual fees or catch rules change.
