Planes: medieval aqueduct, castle and Barranc de l’Encantà

The photograph shows part of Planes aqueduct among tree trunks, vegetation and stone walls. Several pointed arches are visible, one partly hidden, together with a lower channel. This is not a view of either the castle or Barranc de l’Encantà.

The aqueduct belongs to an irrigation network

The structure used water from l’Escaleta and Canyeret reservoirs to supply nearby terraces. The council describes four near-pointed arches and suggests construction between the late thirteenth and early fourteenth centuries. Water continued towards Font Nova and the washhouse, while a lower conduit supplied another reservoir.

The castle occupies the highest ground

The fortification stands above the village at 472 metres according to the municipal record, with an Almohad-period polygonal enclosure and later alterations. Walls and towers survive, but proximity to the houses does not make the photographed aqueduct a visible part of the castle. A possible hydraulic connection is presented as evidence under study rather than certainty.

L’Encantà is a ravine with variable flow

Barranc de l’Encantà begins where Gleda and Les Rotges ravines meet and eventually enters the Serpis. Its flow changes with the seasons, and its landscape combines pools, Mediterranean vegetation, archaeological remains and an oral tradition recorded by Cavanilles in 1797. It is a separate nature outing from the urban aqueduct circuit.

This documentary edit corrects the image identification and separates hydraulic system, fortification and ravine. It does not verify flow, operation, access, stability, rockfall, swimming, paths, vegetation, signs, shade or accessibility on site.
