The People’s Party has launched a harsh criticism against the general secretary of the PSPV, Diana Morant, after the celebration of the socialist party convention in Alicante. Nando Pastor, spokesman for the popular group in Les Corts, has pointed out that the meeting was an opportunity missed to demand from the Pedro Sánchez government the investments that, according to his calculations, the province has been waiting for years. Instead of taking advantage of his position in the Council of Ministers to defend the interests of the region, Pastor accuses Morant of prioritizing internal acts over the defense of the real needs of the Alicanteans.
The popular syndic has denounced that the central government has maintained a policy of neglect towards Alicante for eight consecutive years. According to his data, the province is in last place in the national ranking in state investment, an indicator that he considers devastating and not the result of chance, but of a management strategy. Pastor has highlighted that the local population is exhausted by promises, announcements and studies that never translate into concrete works, which directly affects the well-being and economic competitiveness of the area.
Among the pending infrastructures he has listed, Pastor highlights the railway connection with the airport through the Torrellano bypass, the modernization of the Alicante-Murcia Cercanías lines, the improvement of the A-7 and A-70 motorways, as well as the expansion of access to the AP-7. He has also stressed the urgency of carrying out hydraulic projects in the Vega Baja to prevent flooding, which have been postponed for years. These works, according to the PP, are fundamental for sustainable development and the safety of the population.
The popular spokesman has also questioned the position of the Minister of Finance, Arcadi España, regarding the autonomous financing of the Valencian Community. He has lamented that, despite being a socialist, there is no active defense of the interests of the region. For Pastor, this reveals a lack of loyalty to the land of origin, especially when the motto of the PSPV is to recover what matters. He has demanded that the Sánchez Government stop ignoring the Alicantinos and put into action the investments that are already approved.
Finally, the PP has urged Morant to change his focus: instead of focusing on symbolic acts, he must become an active defender of the needs of the province. He has demanded that the commitment to the region be translated into concrete actions: water, infrastructure, financing and execution of works. The message is clear: citizens do not need more speeches, but visible and real results.
