The Universitat de València has started the 2026-2027 academic year with a total of 50,000 enrolled students. This figure includes those studying degrees, double degrees, postgraduate studies, doctorates and own titles. In addition, participants in international programs such as Erasmus, Internacional and SICUE are also included. The institution offers 59 degrees and 16 double degrees, along with more than 100 official master’s degrees and more than 60 doctoral programs. The Vice Rector of Studies and Quality, Javier Roca, has highlighted the high level of demand that reflects the UV’s ability to meet the training needs of Valencian society.
In this new course, the university made 9,019 first-year places available, of which 99.7% were filled. A total of 36,970 students started classes on Monday, September 14, at the various campuses. High occupancy was observed in almost all degrees, which shows a strong preference for UV among students. International mobility has also grown, with 2,217 Erasmus students, a figure that exceeds the previous year by more than 100 units.
Among the most demanded degrees in the Valencian Community, four belong to the UV: the Double Degree in Physics and Mathematics, the Degree in Medicine, the Degree in Dentistry and the Double Degree in Mathematics and Computer Engineering. The total student mobility will exceed 5,000 people. Of these, 2,531 will stay in other universities: 2,224 through Erasmus Studies, 104 in the International Program and 203 in SICUE. This expansion reinforces the UV’s commitment to the internationalization of training.
The university has reaffirmed its leadership in the region, positioning itself as the best university institution in the Valencian Community. According to the Shanghai 2026 ranking, UV is placed in the 301-400 world range and occupies the fourth position in Spain, together with the Autonomous University of Madrid, the University of Granada and the University of the Basque Country. The official start of the course took place on Friday in the ‘paranymph’ of the Centre Cultural La Nau. There, the new rector, Juan Luis Gandía, gave the starting signal of his first term, after his election at the end of the previous course.
