The fifth edition of the Naturalízate photography competition has received 111 works focused on the natural heritage of the province of Castellón. The figure almost doubles the 56 proposals presented in 2025 and confirms the growth of an initiative promoted by the Provincial Deputation.
The images capture landscapes, fauna, vegetation and scenes linked to rural areas. The jury evaluates the technical quality, composition, originality and the ability of each photograph to show the relationship between the territory and those who inhabit it. The variety of locations allows to bring together in the same call spaces from the interior and the coast.
The competition establishes a first prize of 1,000 euros, a second prize of 700 and a third prize of 500. It also includes nine honorable mentions of 200 euros. The jury will therefore distinguish several ways of observing the province and will allow the selection of recognized works to be expanded.
The increase in participation is one of the main data of this edition. Going from 56 to 111 photographs in one year expands both the competition and the diversity of the scenes presented. The organization will now have to complete the evaluation according to the criteria and communicate the winning images.
The call for submissions is not limited to large panoramas. It also accepts details of fauna, vegetation and rural life capable of explaining the environmental diversity of Castellón. That thematic breadth allows us to compare very different works through the criteria announced by the jury. The personal look of each author also contributes a different reading of recognizable spaces.
Naturalízate uses photography as a tool to document the Castilian landscape and bring it closer to the public. The interest of the call for proposals lies in the sum of perspectives: each participant chooses a different framing and moment to represent a shared territory. Until the result is known, participation remains the first indicator of the scope achieved by this fifth edition.
