Valencia CF has opened a deep remodeling of its football area after resolving the contractual relationship with Carlos Corberán and with the coaching staff that directed the first team. The decision comes after a season start marked by poor results. The club publicly thanked the work carried out by the coach during his time at Mestalla and announced that it will later announce the final composition of the new sports project.
The replacement of the bench will initially be provisional. Óscar Sánchez, responsible for VCF Mestalla, will take over the work with the first team while the entity decides who will head the next stage. The solution allows the daily activity of the squad to be maintained during a change that affects both the technical management and the structure responsible for planning the club’s football.
The departure of Corberán coincides with the end of Ron Gourlay’s tenure as CEO of Fútbol. It also ends the ties of the collaborators Lisandro Isei, Hans Gillhaus, Andrés Zamora and Malek Shafei. Valencia presents these moves as part of a reorganization of the sporting management. Due to its scope, the measure goes beyond a simple change of coach and modifies several of the positions that participated in the decisions of the area.
The information published by different media places the team’s performance as an immediate trigger. The Valencianist team had been on a streak of draws and four defeats and was in last place. The defeat against Sevilla prolonged a series of games without a win and increased the pressure on the bench, in a context in which the fans were already pointing fingers at both the coach and the football management.
Corberán had arrived in Valencia in December 2024 to take charge of the project. His stage ends after 72 official matches, according to the information disseminated after the announcement. The club now faces two binding decisions: to stabilize the work of the squad with the provisional solution and to define who will permanently assume the technical responsibility.
The entity has announced that it will soon offer more details about the new organization. Until then, Óscar Sánchez will direct the first team and planning will be pending the appointments that Valencia completes. The scope of the dismissals makes this move a restart of the sporting structure, with immediate effects on the bench and on the management of the next project.
