Passengers will be able to board any EMT bus in València free of charge on Tuesday 22 September. City Hall has announced free travel across the municipal network for World Car-Free Day, a measure taking place on a working day and open to regular passengers as well as people without a travel pass.
The offer is limited to EMT buses. Neither Metrovalencia nor MetroBus is included in the municipal announcement, so a journey involving more than one operator may have a free section and another charged at the normal fare. There will also be a separate promotion on board. EMT will hide 500 ten-journey bus passes in its vehicles, and passengers who find one may keep it. Finding one is not a condition for free travel on 22 September.
Consumer organisation ADICAE Valencia has also publicised the measure and notes that, based on the available information, it applies only to EMT. That distinction matters for metropolitan journeys: integrated tickets can cover several networks, but the announced promotion belongs to the municipal operator.
Any further instructions issued by EMT before Tuesday could change the practical details, particularly how existing cards should be validated or the precise starting and finishing times. Unless that happens, the confirmed offer is free travel on València’s municipal buses during 22 September, not across the entire metropolitan transport system.
